Allaboutlove’s Online Writing Courses

It is said that most people have a book in them. It’s also true that most women have a romance inside them. No matter how serious our lives, we all have a soft, mushy spot for the fairytale romance.

Romance is not a lesser form of fiction. It has its own style, patterns and conventions. This doesn’t prevent it from reaching the highest levels of excellence. Romance readers have their own expectations, just as readers of any genre do. But if you keep your tongues firmly in your cheeks, readers will keep your books firmly closed.

The most important starting point in writing romance is to believe. Believe that love can open doors to possibilities that we, in our humdrum lives, might have forgotten even existed. So, here’s to the believers.

And to help you begin your own romance, we’ve launched a series of writing courses. All our courses will give you kind, but honest feedback and are designed to allow you to chat online to other writers struggling with their muse.

The Preparation course is free and aims to ease you gently into using your writer’s voice and practising your style. Try it now - what’s stopping you?

Our Basic Guide to Writing Romantic Fiction and its companion course, the Basic Guide to Writing Lesbian Romantic Fiction, will give you everything you need (and more) to write your own novel. You can register for either of these courses now. They will both run from June 3.

For those who have done our basic course or have some writing experience, we offer an Advanced guide, which will lead you through the lonely process of writing your own book. We’ll hold your hand and be with you every step of the way. Registration for this course opens on July 15. It will run from August 25

Later this year, we’ll be offering you a course in writing Romantic Comedy screenplays and a short course in writing sex scenes without the cringe.
