Getting the Love You Want Couple Workshop

Every committed relationship, no matter how strong, has its frustrations, and these most commonly present as stemming from “a lack of communication skills” that lead to disconnection and conflict between life partners.

All relationships move through different stages, starting with romantic love in which we feel more alive and whole than ever before. We believe that this will last forever.

However, all too soon we move into the power struggle as we start to feel disillusioned because our partner is not meeting all our needs. At this point we might well think that we have made a mistake. We may then embark on a mission to get our partner to meet these needs, often through criticising, blaming or withdrawing.

In a safe, nurturing environment this workshop will help you move away from a blaming stance as you start to understand the nature and origin of your frustrations with each other. It will enable you to appreciate that each recurring frustration can become an opportunity for growth and healing that can strengthen your relationship.

In doing so it facilitates insight into the different underlying factors that influence your choice of partner. You will discover that you unknowingly seek relationships with people who energetically resemble our primary caretakers in both positive and negative ways –this is our Imago match.

You will also realise that opposites attract for very important reasons – to help you reclaim your original wholeness! You will gain an understanding of the crucial role of safety between you and your partner and will provide you with the necessary practical communication tools to achieve this.

You can benefit from this workshop if…

• you are in a good relationship and want to deepen it
• you want to build a solid foundation for a new relationship you have started

• you have been in a relationship for a long time and want to revitalise it

• you are in a difficult relationship and want to resolve longstanding conflicts

• you are near break-up and want to decide if the relationship can be saved

• you are a parent and want to create a superior nurturing climate for your children

Your participation will help you…

• nurture your relationship

• gain greater understanding, patience & compassion for yourself and your partner

• transform the energy of conflict into opportunities for connection

• rekindle your passion and intimacy

• reclaim your full aliveness

• renew the magic of your love

• restore and deepen your connection

• live the full potential of your union

This psycho-educational workshop is designed in such a way that the focus is on the relationship with your partner. Except for a brief introduction and some closing words you will not need to share with the group unless you so choose.

Confidentiality is maintained in order to create a safe environment in which to explore your connection.

Rather than passively absorbing information you are encouraged to initiate the rediscovery of your relationship.

The workshop is often equated to between three and six months of weekly couple therapy, making it both cost and time efficient.

The cost of the workshop is R2800 per couple, and can be paid off in more than one installment if need be. There is also a limited number of partially subsidised places for couples who are unable to pay the full amount.

Registration before 10 November, together with a deposit of R500 will secure a place at a reduced cost of R2500 per couple. The cost includes refreshments, a light lunch, as well as a manual for each participant.
